What is the Sustainable Tourism Plan?

WHAT IS THE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PLAN?

Now that a reasonable period has elapsed, it is appropriate to develop an intervention strategy for the environment and its natural resources. This strategy should include tourism, which has enormous economic and strategic significance in the Marina Alta region, as a significant element to counter the damaging effects of the fire. It is feasible that a host of initiatives and actions can be utilised to rejuvenate the opportunities and landscapes that have been weakened after this tragedy in the short and medium term. Furthermore, effective environmental planning for sustainable tourism, as outlined in this document, can create new incentives or enhance existing ones.

  • What is proposed? This project aims to enhance the natural, cultural, and agricultural heritage by establishing a linkage between people and the surroundings. It aims to strengthen the existing heritage and, to the extent possible, create new ones. Thus, through initiatives aimed at fostering rural tourism and ecotourism in the natural and rural areas of Les Valls de la Marina, we aim to establish a cohesive platform that unites the areas impacted by the fire, allowing them to showcase their potential as a distinctive and exclusive space.
  • How can we achieve this?  Accordingly, this strategy endeavours to catalogue, consolidate, and devise strategies for extant and potential undertakings that can facilitate recuperation from the recent wildfire. Above all, it intends to establish a considerate, compassionate model of locality, devoted to a thriving and sustainable agricultural environment. The document presents an implementable strategy with specific actions of varying kinds, underpinned by a sustainable and regional model of tourism that serves as a unifying theme.
  • Let us educate. Nevertheless, by means of tourism initiatives, we aspire to encourage ecological instruction, directed particularly at schools and the local populace of the area and its environs.
  • What are the objectives?
    • To overcome the aftermath of a severe forest fire, it is imperative to implement a novel territorial plan that inspires and encourages constructive actions in the region. This plan should be accompanied by a robust proposal for sustainable tourism and preservation of the area.
    • Designing an Intervention Strategy for Sustainable Dynamics in the Natural and Rural Environment to Boost the Local Economy through Sustainable Tourism.
    • Creation of a catalogue of suggestions and measures for the preservation of the natural heritage and rural environment of Les Valls de la Marina, utilising rural tourism and ecotourism.
    • The benefits of rural tourism, including Les Valls de la Marina's natural beauty and rural character, should be disseminated to neighbouring villages and regions for wider recognition.
    • Promoting environmental education in educational centres in Marina Alta and the surrounding areas by means of ecotourism and sensory tourism activities in the areas affected by the fire.
